This Is How I Learn to Travel Through Pages
Hey mysterious beings,
I'm Vishakha aka book eater (not literally) yes, I have been called book eater for 2 years. This is when my pace of reading exponentially increases.
I started reading in 2018 when I was spiritually drained and physically trapped in my routine lifestyle, i.e., from home to office. Like everyone, I was supposed to choose something motivational or romantic. But I desire to read psychological thriller books. Especially one with a twisted ending and you know when you just can't stop yourself from reading or either watching it.

1) Encourage yourself
My 1st month of reading pace was slow as I read only 2 books it is because of my distraction and mainly because I cannot divide my time (poor time management) and then I started sharing it on Instagram as a summary or discovered lessons of it. This was when I first participated in a book giveaway and guess, I won it. Wow, that something kicked me to jump and participate more like a kid. But that's how I found out different genre also.
I found different online libraries and people reading like enthusiastic and devoted readers. Who not only appreciate you plus guide you to read good books. Books that are not only romantic or dedicated to friendship but the diverse genre of books.
While I was coping up with my reading pace and struggling to find one good book to hook on.
I participated in 20 different giveaways that challenged me to change my perspective about certain things. Because the best and unique answer will get a prize. That prize was not what I ran up to but to think beyond my level, think in different aspects help me won 10 giveaways. I'm proud of it. By the end of 2018, I was able to read 30+ books.
The beginning of 2019 was the best. I discovered myself in some books went crazy to read deep dive in what the author has written and why so.
You know, I was fascinated with thoughts that go into Author's mind. (Crazy right?) But that was my way to read more books. In 2019 I read around 50+ books. And in 2020 it whoops into 150+ books. Thanks to lockdown.
Tip: Whatever you want to do, go crazy for it. Or how normal people say "be passionate". My only desire is to read others' minds and it is fulfilling by reading what they write.

2) Challenge yourself
My funda of building any new habit is to learn how to overthrow yourself. That's how I keep myself motivated throughout the learning period and achieve what I desire.
Here I mean, how to change your reading pace, and to decide what is good for you to read. All books are not written for every reader. There are books which are made to change life and there are simple books to keep you engage in a good activity.
For example, I have heard that reading short stories can help you to gain good pace. But if we are reading meaningless stories it will bore you and will not be able to engage yourselves.
And a beginner should not start with literature books it will bore you to death. And I'm speaking frankly, I have tried to be cool and read historic books in my initial days.
One must remember it is not about what we read, it is about why and how we read.

3) Read 9 pages daily
Yes, once you start reading few books monthly. No need to rush. Keep a book handy to develop a love for it. I have read somewhere if we read before we go to bed or when we wake up it refreshes our mind and it true. I have tried it.
Just by reading 9 pages, you can change your mood and you can alter the dreams you get at night. And this is practically possible. I'm an example of it. Whenever I feel low I read my favourite book and whenever I re-read the same book. I get new points, a new way to look at anything, which I have probably missed before.
4) Be honest with yourself
If you think why I have included this simple point here. It's because we tend to focus on honesty with others before ourselves. But if you lie to yourself, you cannot read a book. Be honest when you don't feel like reading it. Be honest when you think this book is crap. Because it would be.

That's how we develop any habit and there is no rocket science in it. There would be 21 days challenge, read book a week challenge, but unless and until you don't feel it, these challenges are bogus. Feel the words written in it. Feel it is for you, and most importantly think how these characters are even related to you or your family members (this is my favourite pass time) relating bookish characters with real-life will make some sense and you will finally be able to bag a new habit.
And most importantly if you have reached till here and read whatever above its mention. You can cent per cent read book. Because if we don't like anything why we would read an article about it.
Thanks to Nimish Bangera and his team at Bangera Studio for inviting me as a guest blogger.
I feel whatever I have written would be less to show how much struggle goes in developing a habit. And how satisfying it is in future when you have developed it and now you are sharing it with others...
