I have been a photographer for the last 11 years and before that, I used to work unprofessionally to low-end jobs in the photo and video shoots, but no matter what a brief part of my life has evolved around the photo-studio scenario. Ideally, I even became far more comfortable with the scenario until I decided to do film making. That's where I decided to step out of a studio and move into the real world. That decision helped me to set my studio business evolves around the demand for international standards.

Photography was taken by storm when digital photography debut, the power of clicking an image was no longer manual labour and more of automation. Since then the entire field was facing a radical shift in perspective. Long story short, today the art of photography and to some extent filmmaking has reached a saturation level. So did the automation helped studio owners to build a powerhouse money-making business?

I am afraid that I have a negative response.

Many of them would complain about the fact that their art and business is dying. Honestly, that's too much of negativity to deal with.

I shoot at a town name Vasai, Though I travel around the world, my origins are and will always be located to this amazing town. The beauty of this city is that it has all the locations you can ask for, it could have been a blessing for people to own photo studio in these areas. but due to excessive over-saturated competition, the studio owners are now on the verge of death bed with COVID 19 killing business at a faster rate.

Am I offering a solution to this problem? A BIG YES!

Acceptance is the key here, to all my photographers and videographers association members need to accept the level. The introspection to the level of your photography or videography skill can make you understand the starting point. That's how you start working your way up.

Formal training is a basic requirement.

there will be people who are self-thought and might succeed but if you look into their journey, at some point they choose to get acquainted with the formal and fundamental basics of the art form. This will help you to bring adaptability to changing times of business environment.

Cashflow

it's not just about a great photograph, but also about how you sell them. Business talks to you in terms of numbers and are you well versed with the numbers? You don't have to be a genius to know if you are in profit or loss, do you own capital or not?

Customer Experience

Let's talk about this, many of you might not even understand why this is important. When you go down to an expensive restaurant and order a simple dish. Will the charges be exactly the same as a fast-food joint in a less sophisticated area? NO !!!

They charge you for an experience, they charge you for their skills. Create a customer-centric experience in your studio. Give them something to remember and take back with them, that recall value will create a better aspect in terms of recurring clients.

Stop being obsessed with passport photographs.

You are more valuable than an 8 copy passport. You are not towards selling your skill as a passport or documentation photographer, You are selling your skill to bring value to someones life or brands and always remember that. Your time is valuable. Your effort is valuable.

Learn public speaking.

A key essential part of any business is the art to convince people why you fit for the job. Your choice of words, your command over language and your grip over your profession gives you the power to convince people. make sure you learn that.

Change is the only thing that is constant. But your will and understanding of the language give you the capability to emerge victoriously.

The Studio business is still as lucrative as it was a few years ago. I can assure you that. please take care of your self, stay safe and keep clicking.
